PT Berdikari Meubel Nusantara Supports Rural Economic Development Through Mushroom Cultivation Facility in Tirtomulyo

The collaboration between the government, private sector, and local communities is realized through the development of a mushroom cultivation facility with a production capacity of up to 21 tons per harvest, while also repurposing high-quality wood remnants from furniture production.

BANTUL, SPECIAL REGION OF YOGYAKARTA, September 24, 2026 — PT Berdikari Meubel Nusantara (PT BMN) is supporting local economic development through the construction of a mushroom cultivation facility for BUMKal Mulyo Rahayu in Tirtomulyo, Bantul Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The facility is expected to serve as a platform for business development while creating new economic opportunities for the local community.

“We have been tasked with connecting companies with village-owned enterprises to create opportunities for collaboration and rural economic development. PT BMN is one of the companies that has been engaged in this collaboration for two years, previously with BUMDes Guwosari and this year with BUMKal Mulyo Rahayu in Tirtomulyo,” said Dudi Nugroho, Senior Policy Analyst at the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions.

The mushroom cultivation facility is part of the follow-up to a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Villages and Development of Disadvantaged Regions and PT Berdikari Meubel Nusantara on business development through village-owned enterprises in the livestock and other business sectors in villages and disadvantaged regions. Through this collaboration, PT BMN has established a 48-square-meter cultivation facility at BUMKal Mulyo Rahayu Tirtomulyo, with an estimated production capacity of up to 21 tons per harvest.

Beyond its focus on economic development, the facility also incorporates principles of sustainable resource utilization. Its construction makes use of high-quality wood remnants from BMN’s furniture production process that have undergone processing and remain suitable for reuse, giving these materials renewed utility and value. This practice is aligned with Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 12 on Responsible Consumption and Production, particularly through resource efficiency and waste reduction.

“This is a positive step and demonstrates that empowering local communities economically requires collaboration and collective effort from all stakeholders. The government contributes through policy and facilitation; the business sector through investment and social responsibility; while the community and BUMKal serve as the economic actors who directly drive these activities on the ground,” said Bobot Ariffi Aidin, Bantul Regent’s Expert Advisor for Economic, Financial and Development Affairs, representing the Regent of Bantul.

In addition to constructing the facility, PT BMN has also provided Environmental and Social Responsibility (TJSL) assistance to support the procurement of various facilities and equipment needed for mushroom cultivation. The support is expected to create new economic opportunities, generate tangible benefits for the people of Tirtomulyo, and establish a foundation for productive and sustainable mushroom cultivation.

The initiative forms part of PT BMN’s commitment, as a subsidiary within the PT Berdikari (Persero) group, to creating sustainable economic and social value in line with the transformation direction of Indonesia’s state-owned enterprises (SOEs) through Danantara Indonesia.

The development of businesses based on local potential is also aligned with the sixth Asta Cita, one of President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto’s national priorities: developing the country from villages and grassroots communities to promote more equitable economic growth and poverty alleviation. The collaboration is expected to strengthen the local economy while delivering sustainable social benefits to the people of Tirtomulyo.

“Looking ahead, we hope to further strengthen the synergy that has been established and expand its benefits. We hope this collaboration will not only benefit Bantul Regency but also serve as an inspiration for other regions. PT BMN will continue to support initiatives that develop local economic potential and create sustainable benefits,” said Andre Andika Adhiguna, Director of PT Berdikari Meubel Nusantara.

Collaboration among the government, business sector, and local communities is an important element in fostering productive and sustainable village-based enterprises. PT BMN hopes that mushroom cultivation at BUMKal Mulyo Rahayu Tirtomulyo will continue to grow and deliver tangible economic benefits to the local community.
